LAST YEAR&#8217;S EXPERIENCE SHOWED THAT I WOULD NEED PATIENCE.<\/h2>\n<p>Surprisingly when we arrived, it was an unusual sight: The sea was as smooth as glass, no wind, pleasant temperatures. So we quickly started the challenge. Full of euphoria, I climbed into the water. But this time, too, nature struck without mercy. A storm came up out of the blue, swimming was out of the question. Even in 2020, I was unable to conquer the straits of New Zealand.
